Tuscany and Umbria, Italy
Hosted by Debbie and Barry Frangipane

Indulge yourself for a week in Italy’s most desirable destinations – Tuscany and Umbria, known for their outstanding beauty and extraordinary countryside. Inhabited by the Etruscans in 800 BC, Tuscany and Umbria played an important role in the Roman Empire, and were central to the glorious Italian Renaissance. Experience with us the beauty, the history, the food and wine of Italy’s crown jewels, while staying for the entire week in our private country villa.

Our luxurious villa lies just outside of Cortona, the charming Tuscan hilltop town that boasts of beauty and fame from ‘Under the Tuscan Sun.’ Nestled at the base of rolling hills, your grand country estate provides an ideal escape with elegant landscaped gardens, a sizable swimming pool, tranquil suites and a large terrace that faces west for evening sunsets. Started as a monastery in 1190 by the Brothers of the Mount of Olives, it was completely restored from 2000-2004 into the villa we know today.

All bedrooms are spacious, have en-suite marble bathrooms and magnificent views of the surrounding countryside.

Take time as the sun rises to enjoy yoga in the gardens, savor wine on the terrace, or explore the villa’s library and billiards room. Be sure to allow time for a swim in our expansive pool.

There is even a chapel on the grounds built by monks in the 12th century.
Savor the intense flavors of Tuscany and Umbria. These regions are known throughout the world for their wines, olive oil, chocolate and simple yet refined cuisine.

Enjoy the morning tasting olive oil, cheeses, prosciutto, and the famous Brunello di Montalcino in the countryside, followed by lunch in the historic town of Assisi. Spend your afternoon exploring this medieval city which includes the Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi.

You can try your hand at making chocolates at the famed Perugina Chocolate Factory where we will also have an exclusive chocolate tasting!), Click here to see a video of the chocolate class at Perugina!

Our friend Mamma Adele will come to the villa to show us how to make homemade pasta the old fashioned way.

Chef Andrea (known for his cooking shows from his Manhattan loft) will come to our kitchen at the villa to host a cooking lesson on Tuscan and Umbrian gastronomy.

Experience the hilltop town of Orvieto the Savory Adventures way - tasting the renowned local wines, olive oil, cheeses and prosciutto at prestigious vineyards, followed by lunch and in the afternoon exploring this medieval city’s charming narrow cobblestone streets full of local and commercial shops, as well as must-see cathedrals.
Our final evening will be a lavish one to remember- A luxurious gala dinner hosted in the candlelit cantina of a local highly acclaimed fine dining restaurant in Perugia. The venue is not only magical, but the creative cuisine prepared by 5-star Chef Claudio (previously Elton John’s personal chef) is delectable and enchanting.
